What is Meditation ? Meditation is a word that has been used frequently in loose and inaccurate ways in the modern world. There exists a lot of confusion with regards to meditation and how to practice it. While some use it for thinking and contemplating, others use it for daydreaming and fantasizing. But DHYANA( meditation) is not any of these.
Meditation is a precise technique for relaxing and concetrating the mind while attaining a state of thoughtless consciousness which is completely different from the normal awakened state. Through meditation we can dive deep into the various levels of consciousness. It is a completely non religious practice and science of the mind which follows a proper order having definite principles and produces results that have been verified from time to time.
During meditation the mind is clear, relaxed, and inwardly focused. When you meditate, you are fully awake and alert, but your mind is not focused on the external world or on the events taking place around you. Meditation requires an inner state that is still and focused during which the mind becomes still, and in this state it does not suffer from any distraction.
