What is Meaning of Sanskar Yogashala?

Rishikesh has been the abode for ancient seers and sages of antiquity who have been mentioned again and again in the traditional system of knowledge . as the name itself implies “ the pinnacle of the seers” this holy city has been the spiritual guiding light throughout ancient India and now the whole world.

It has attained the status of world yoga capital owing to its profound and ongoing tradition of imparting yogic knowledge and is a centre of mixed cultures where you can find both Indian and foreign individuals moving in the busy streets of this holy city coming for the same purpose: soul searching and the true essence of ancient Indian spirituality.

The holy river Ganges in its most blissful and thought-provoking flow makes the place even more interesting and peaceful that you can find most of the populace residing and spending their time with the constantly flowing mother the Ganges. The sage som Sharma performed hard penance here and prayed to Lord Hrishikesh Narayan who then Pleased by his penance granted him a boon and he witnessed the true form of lord Hrishikesh Narayana.

The name of this holy city also appears in the ancient text, Skand Puran and in further folk culture, it became famous as Rishikesh.

This area is also known as Kubjamrak because Lord Vishnu appeared here under a mango tree. This ancient name is used during performance of religious rites even till date. It is a spiritual town with a population of Approx 80,000 in the area of 11.20 sq km. it’s 40 km from Dehradun the capital of Uttrakhand and just 24km away from the spiritual town of Haridwar situated on the banks of river Ganga surrounded by beautiful Shivalik hills of the Himalayan range on its three sides. Rishikesh is also the base for the Chardham pilgrimage and a gateway for the Garhwal Himalayan region.
